Dear Patients,

We have been warning you not to use DEET (N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide or N,N- diethyl-3-methylbenzamide) as an insect repellant. It is a neuro-toxic substance, which can cause SEVERE damage to your nervous system especially if combined with other pesticide and chemical exposure. This is a potent chemical that has actually killed people in high dosages. There are natural alternatives available.

We are strongly recommending the use of Gourmet Mexican Vanilla as a spray, mixing 1/2 Gourmet Mexican Vanilla (4 ounces) and 1/2 water (4 ounces). We now have available a Gourmet Mexican Vanilla which we have personally tested and found to be effective and safe.

Gourmet Mexican Vanilla is available from our office at $5.50 per bottle plus shipping. Priority mail shipping @ $4.00 per order for one or more bottles.

Other Helpful Hints and Alternatives:

You can use Cutter’s Herbal Citronella Spray. (If you do not like the scent of the Gourmet Mexican Vanilla, the herbal scent is an alternative.)

Another alternative is called Buzz-Away. It has been proven to be more effective than Avon Skin-So-Soft, Bug Guard, Bite Blocker, Natrapel, Jungel Juice AND it equaled effectiveness of OFF! Buzz Away is formulated with Citronella, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, Lemon Grass and Peppermint, pure and natural plant extracts which repel bugs.

Supplement with one Vitamin B-1 tablet a day from April-October. Add 100 mg. of B-1 to a B-100 Complex daily during mosquito season.

Do not eat bananas during mosquito season. Mosquitoes love bananas! There is something about how the body processes the banana oil that attracts these female sugar-loving insects.

Planting marigolds around your yard also works great as a bug repellant because the flowers give off a fragrance that the bugs do not like. This is a great way to ward off mosquitoes without using chemical insecticides.
