Dr. William J. Weirs, M.D., F.A.A.E.M., is board-certified in Emergency Medicine. He is also a Certified Peptide Practitioner, certified by the SEEDS Scientific Research and Performance Institute (SSRP), which reflects his advanced training in peptide therapy and personalized wellness care.
Dr. Weirs utilizes many different nutritional therapies, including nutritional supplementation, diagnostic testing to confirm the identity of problem areas, and nutritional counseling, leading to a total holistic approach to wellness through the eating habits and choices we make.
Dr. Weirs’ interest in environmental medicine and the treatment of allergies, as well as the prevention of illness with nutrition, is the direct result of his own severe environmental allergies, asthma, and atopic dermatitis from a very young age. An avid reader, he was exposed to the concepts of food allergy, and despite having controlled his allergies with weekly shots and traditional medications, including steroids, he still suffered from eczema. His own personal research led him to the concept of dairy allergies in particular, and by eliminating them, his eczema cleared up completely.
Despite enjoying the fast pace of emergency medicine, Dr. Weirs became frustrated seeing so many illnesses in the ER that could have been completely prevented. Due to the limited interaction that emergency medicine allowed for, and its focus on the acute rather than the chronic or preventative, he finally decided to leave the ER and begin practicing environmental medicine, utilizing his love and interest in nutritional and integrative medicine.
Dr. Weirs believes that every person is unique, with individual health needs shaped by biology, lifestyle, nutrition, and environmental exposure. In his own words, “All humans have similarities, but we are each biochemically unique. The perfect diet and environment for one person may not be perfect for someone else.” At COEM, his goal is to help patients achieve optimal health by identifying what supports their personal well-being, reducing harmful environmental exposures, and guiding them toward nutrition and lifestyle choices that are right for their body.
